Hot Spot Shrimp

Hot Spot Shrimp - another popular generic design of pattern intended to simulate the parasitized Gammarus. Not only does the parasite show up boldly through the translucent body of a natural shrimp, but it alters the shrimp’s behaviour as well. Instead of remaining tucked away – shy and retiring – parasitized shrimps become outgoing and gregarious. They leave the sanctuary of the gravel or weed and swim about in the water column – far more likely to be picked up by the parasite’s secondary host – a hungry grayling! For variation, try hot spots in other colours such as orange, pink or chartreuse… Hook: Fish On Curved Thread: Fish On UTS (colour to match dubbing) Underbody: Lead wire Dubbing: Fish On Nymph Bug Caddis (NBC) dubbing Hot Spot: Fish On Nymph Bug Caddis (NBC) dubbing Shellback: Fish On Shimmer-Back (braided) Rib: Fish On Coloured Wire | | |
