I've been fishing for many many years now and fly fishing on rivers and small streams for most of that time, so you'd perhaps think that I've seen most of what was possible or at least likely in such an environment. Well last week I had my eyes opened once more...

I’m no expert at the saltwater fly
fishing game, but I'll give anything a go. Many moons ago in the days of having
a proper job and a few quid in my pocket I bought a Sage RPLXi #8 with the
intention of having a bash at the old SWFF game and it has remained in its tube
in the cellar ever since. Not any more! This year I dusted it off and along
with a reel and a small box of flies, I made my first tentative casts into the
open ocean.

To say the River Don used to be one of the most polluted rivers in the country it is truly amazing these days. The Don is an Urban river that runs through villages, towns, cities, industry, sewerage depots etc etc…….. you name it and to quote a great film the "river runs through it". Jumping in the river nowadays is a pleasure.
