Exciting times at Fish On Productions

Fly Tying MaterialsOver the last few months, we at Fish On have been extremely busy! Last month we were away filming our sixth DVD title in the acclaimed River Academy series, which is hopefully due for release at the British Fly Fair International in June.

But in addition to our DVDs we are currently developing our own exciting range of fly tying products

Hooks

For a long time now, we have been searching for a single manufacturer of all the shapes and sizes of barbless hooks in a black finish that we use to tie our own flies... unsuccessfully. And so, we have developed our own! Our new range of hooks is now available as follows:

•Dry fly
•Curved - standard & fine wire versions
•Wet fly/nymph
•Jig

In packs of 25, they are all barbless and all black!

Tungsten Beads

Our new range of tungsten beads is now available in both in slotted and countersunk options.

The tungsten beads are available in packs of 25 and a selection of colours and sizes which we regularly use when tying our own flies.

Ultimate Tying Silk

Fish On Ultimate Tying Silk uses a new generation of hi-tech fibre and is manufactured specifically for fly tying. Developed by John Pearson and JT, UTS is probably the thinnest yet strongest tying thread available.

Ultimate Tying Silk was created to allow the tying of the smallest and thinnest of natural looking fly patterns without the inconvenience of thread breakages associated with ultra fine diameter threads. The extra tension afforded by the thread’s strength means more resilient flies and no need to use varnish on your whip finish; a whip finish can be pulled extra tight and won’t come undone.

Ultimate Tying Silk is a multi strand material making it easy to split for dubbing loops but it is spooled with the optimum number of twists per metre making sure the thread won’t separate unless required. With this optimum number of twists per metre UTS is very easy to control; you can open the twists slightly to make it lie flat on the hook giving almost no thread build-up. Alternatively UTS can be spun tight to give an incredibly thin profile that will disappear into the fly’s dressing – this is particularly useful on tiny parachute hackles.

• Available in a range of colours

• Purchase as a pack or individually

• Discounts for bulk purchase (see product description on our website for further details)

Polish Quills

This body material is used to create fantastic natural segmentation of flies tied on hooks from 12-22 – dries, nymphs and spiders. The quill comes from peacock eyes and is hand stripped, which eliminates the problems of cracking if bleached or chemically stripped. Using finest natural paints they are dyed into different colours – a very useful range that will be appreciated by any fly tier. Currently available in:

•Natural
•Yellow
•Olive

Further colours will be made available if there is sufficient demand.

Packs contain at least 25 pieces of quill, which should produce at least 25 flies, and when tying smaller flies, might actually produce double. We know that there is no better solution for creating segmented fly bodies.

Fish On CDC

So many of our favourite dry flies (and some of our nymphs) incorporate CDC that we decided we'd better offer what we use to our customers as well. The 0.5 gram packs contain around 70-80 premium feathers

French Leaders & Indicators

Growing hugely in popularity and significance within fly fishing worldwide, is the use of a "French leader". When properly tied with appropriate tapers these leaders can give us fly fishers the perfect presentation of our flies, at range and drag-free.

Our French leaders are hand tied by the Fish On Team using high quality nylon monofilament. After tying each leader is chemically treated to increase suppleness and reduce line memory resulting in accurate easy casting leaders less prone to tangles or kinking. French leaders areavailable in brown or clear in three tapers to suit a wide range of conditions.

Our Hi-Viz braid indicators are completely knotless with loops or micro rings at each end.

As you can see, these are exciting times for us. we hope you will take the time to check out our new product range and try them out for yourselves. Remember, if we could find exactly what we wanted elsewhere, why would we bother to invest the time and money and effort in bringing out own own range? We believe these products are the best - the ultimate - you can find anywhere. Have fun tying with them and create some wonderful flies.
