JP's Emerger

20 October 2013  |  JP

Whether it's olives or midges, this emerger is JP's go to pattern when the fish are sipping dries.

Hook: Fish On Curved (fine)
Thread: Fish On UTS
Body: Fish On Ultimate Body/Rib (D-section fine)
Thorax: Fish On Shimmer-dub (peacock)
Wing: Fish On natural CDC

This pattern is very simple to tie and is so effective JP rarely fishes any other emerger pattern. Yellow UTS under drab coloured Ultimate Body/Rib gives a wonderful translucent emerger effect to the submerged body with a hint of insect like iridescent sparkle from the Shimmer-dub thorax.

Tip; try to leave a few stray fibres of CDC for that mobile leggy effect.

Look out for full tying instructions in Fish On's new fly tying DVD released at the 2014 BFFI in February.
